“I will have to say, it has been too long since I have read something and it had enough substance to keep me coming back to read more. It not only made me re-evaluate my life but it made me look at people in a whole new perspective. In addition I look at where my life is now in a whole new perspective. It seemed daunting, but now, it doesn’t seem really that bad. But this is probably my kick-start on my life. I just cannot express how moved I am. I have so many spoilers to speak of it is unbearable. This book was uplifting, encouraging and helped me have a better understanding of who I am and what I really can do with my life and for my daughter. I could already feel myself appreciating who I have in my life as I was reading this book.

I would love to say more but if I do I may ruin it for you. Now go give your life a kick-start and read this.

Thank you Scott for the most eye opening read I have yet to come across.”

BROKEN PEOPLE
I had a girlfriend, at 21, commit suicide while I was away. I have lived with that guilt forever. Several friends and family members have done the same thing. Throughout my life, I have met, talked to, and attempted to assist anyone that appeared to be broken, as long as they were willing to help themselves. I wrote this book to show how people feel. To allow the reader to feel, truly feel and associate with the characters. This is a book of feelings. Characters are depressed, angry, sad, elated, full of fear, confused, frustrated, hysterical, jealous, and lonely.

I stopped drinking a few decades ago. In my drinking, and in my not, I have found many other broken people. I frequent coffee houses the way that most everyone else frequents a bar. In these places, I meet more broken people. My exposure to these people made me want to write this book.

This book is fiction. It is a made-up story of five people. Five people that have different problems, different lies, and different issues. It’s a story about losing. Winning. And, ultimately, finding yourself. It is told through the voices of all five people. One of these people, the main character, is an overbearing asshole. He is vulgar, he is obese, and he is always talking thrash to whoever he encounters. He hates people. But he loves to help people that he wants to. He meets people. He encounters a lot of people he doesn’t help. But he encounters these people, and their lives are changed. His life and his mind, throughout this process, changes as well.

A suicidal girl is one. She is bulimic.

Another is somewhat of an intelligent dreamer. She is the heroine in the book.

A homosexual son of a former Marine war veteran. He can’t tell his dad he is gay.

And, the romantic. He comes from a home without a father. He has issues of his own, but, overall, he’s a great guy.

The reviews of this book are remarkable. Remarkable. Everyone agrees, this is a book that you must read. You must. It will, without a doubt, be one of the best reads you ever had. Additionally, it will have a greater, a deeper, and a longer lasting effect than anything else you’ve read or seen.

This is New Adult fiction like no other. If there was a book that you knew, literally knew…going into reading it, that it would make you cry, make you think, and make you reflect on yourself as a whole, would you read it? If this book had the most power of any other book that you have ever read. Any. If the book was grand enough to make you sit back and say, “Wow. I think I need to read that again…” and you immediately started over, would you read it?

Broken People, by Scott Hildreth is that book. You will, without a doubt see yourself in this book, in at least one of the characters, you will. It is an amazing piece, and has an amazing story to tell.

Read this book. You will not be anything but amazed.

20 Year EMS Medic praises Broken People in book review on Amazon

As a person who lost my 16 year old daughter, an EMS medic for over 20 years and have seen the tragedies that happen to children (including suicide even ran calls on 5 friends who decided to cash in their chips), taught K-12 and actually took the time to listen to the kids and now teach at a college level.

I think this book should be a must read for parents of kids 12 and older who are truly blind or indifferent in today’s society to what is going on with their kids.  It would also benefit the teens out there who also think everything is OK…  The key is communication and not through email, txt messaging and fancy gadgets, I’m talking face to face!!!
We are all broken people in some way or another, some worse than others and they all have a story.  If people would just take time to really listen, even if it is just finding that one person like FAT KID, but someone to listen!!!!!
Read the Book & Open Your Eyes (Ears) 🙂

***************

First, and foremost, HUGZ, I am sorry for your pain, your losses, and the loss of your daughter. I am proud and grateful that this book, if even for a few hours, was able to provide you with some comfort. Possibly this book will prevent others from feeling the pain that you have felt.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why I wrote this book. I wanted to write something carefully, thoughtfully, and real. Something that all could relate to that was raw…Something that made teens, young adults, new adults, and parents just stop. Stop and actually feel, feel what was going on in the book. Feel through the colorfully depicted characters what was going on as if it were going on in their living room, in their school, in their frozen yogurt shop. I wanted them to stop half-way through the book, and look around the room, wondering where the kids were. Wondering what they were doing. What they have been doing. To rekindle the love that has been lost over the years between children and their parents.

The reviews for this book, to date, speak volumes about what the combined pages offer. What this book offers is real, it’s in your face, and it’s a slap of the hand that has raised a generation of children that just don’t quite get the attention and love that they oh-so-deserve.

This book provides the emotional rush of witnessing a bank robbery, watching someone give birth, seeing a fatal car crash, and having an out of body spiritual experience…all rolled into one book.

It’s truly something you must experience. The reviews are accurate. The reviews are real. Try it for yourself. If it can provide you with what it has provided others, you’re reading the wrong book…if it isn’t Broken People.

From time to time, a book comes along, and makes you stop. It makes you stop and second guess who you are, what you’re doing in life, with life, and for the ones you love. This is that book. Through colorfully painted characters, “Broken People” forces the reader to reflect on self. There will be a broken part of you in one (or all) of these characters, guaranteed. This is one powerful read. It will truly leave you sitting and wondering about life when you complete it.

A woman in Texas messaged me yesterday when she completed it. She said she was going to immediately read it AGAIN. She said, when asked, that this book was remarkable, and certainly a treasure. A masterpiece. Get a copy today, $3.99 at Amazon. If you read, you should be reading this book.

Broken People, 20 Amazon Five Star Reviews

Posted in Broken People, Broken People Scott Hildreth, BULIMIA, CODEPENDENCY, coming of age, divorce, Scott D Hildreth Broken People with tags , , , on July 11, 2013 by scottdhildreth

So, I received my first review of the book on Goodreads today. 5 stars. Currently, on Amazon, (20) 5 stars, one 4 star. Strangely enough, the one 4 star is prorbably one of my best reviews, based on content.

This book is so much more than a suicide book, that’s merely just a portion of what ground this book covers. I actually wrote it with the intent of it being a self-help book.

A Texas reader emailed me today after completion, and said it was so powerful, she was reading it again…..as soon as she completed it.

Now that’s a good book. $3.99, see what the hype is about. Try it now, before the price goes up…..
